Bridging Gowanus was convened to develop a comprehensive framework for the infrastructure and land use regulations needed for a safe, vibrant, and sustainable Gowanus, through a broad-based, inclusive, transparent, and robust process. The community planning framework presented on this website is the result of many hours of public meetings with several hundred people – long-time and newer homeowners, tenants, and NYC residents, small business owners, environmental activists, artists, affordable housing advocates, and more. Together we grappled with challenging questions, discussed different viewpoints, articulated broadly-shared goals, and found substantial agreement on the core values that should shape future actions in Gowanus.
The Bridging Gowanus community planning framework is organized around five core values. It also includes a letter from the local elected officials, an executive summary, and public comments. Links are provided below to help you get started. You can find all past meeting materials and video recordings at archive.bridginggowanus.org
